I'm a woman in my forties living with SMA—Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2—and severe scoliosis that makes breathing difficult and limits me to sitting for just a few hours at a time. Together, these create pain and fatigue on top of the weakness I was born with.
I live on willpower and inspiration alone—no heavy medications, no ventilator, no special medical equipment except my old electric wheelchair. My entire life has been about improvising: ramped from wobbly boards, patched wheels, rusty joysticks, and countless temporary fixes. I've made peace with all of it. I actually appreciate the ability to find solutions, no matter the odds.
